K9 Cancer Advice: 1. If you have a doggie that has cancer already insurance is unfortunately not an option, but please don't give up hope, there are alternate resources such as www.k9cf.org, this site, and other online resources. 2. If you have Veterinary Pet Insurance then you are going to have make sure they are NOT processing your claims incorrectly and ride their case. Prepare to have to get nasty with them and make sure they give you all they can. I have found that sometimes they will process a claim under something other than Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy pays out more than some other diagnosises. 3. Make sure that the protocal that your doctor is picking is applicable to the type of cancer you have, for example in my case we are dealing with T-CELL Lymphoma so the best protocal for this is MOPP, but that is also subjective to your Doctor. Coming soon there will be an online timeline that you can use to document and keep track of your dog's progression during the course of his/her chemo. 4. Go to COSTCO or somewhere to get discount vitamins and get some Fish OIL and Cod Liver OIL. Both have merits when on chemo and overal have some great results. 5. Even if your doctor did not recommend them probably a good idea to consider Genesis Resources Canine CAS Options Immune Support, seems to help my pooch during all the hard times and while they stink and are hard to get down they are very benificial for her. Think of it as a vitamin for your dog that helps them with their energy level when they are going through CHEMO. 6. If your dog is not already put them on glucosimine and the purest stuff I have been able to find is at Scitrex, they have the BEST stuff around. 7. |
